It Aint Ready Yet?!

This is what I find myself asking whenever I go to the pharmacy. Let me give you all some background. My mother, god bless her, has had 3 strokes and is a dialysis patient. To see her you wouldn’t know this. The woman is doing well in spite of her health issues. Well since the strokes she is on a number of medication, approximately 10 different pills. Since the strokes she had to retire from Nursing at the age of 53(she was an RN) and since she is a dialysis patient (don’t know if this was brought on by the strokes or if it was going to happen because of her long time bout with diabetes) she is on Medicare. But because of her income, she was just above the poverty line, she didn’t qualify for Medicare prescription drug coverage only the medical coverage, so she had to pay out of pocket, full price, for her prescriptions. So we went with the common place, Walgreen’s, simply because there is one near her home and they have some that stay open 24 hours. Now I get into the topic of this post. I don’t know if it was because this particular Walgreen’s was in the “hood”, it’s a predominately black neighborhood, but her scripts were never ready and if they didn’t have the medicine in stock she may or may not have gotten a call to inform her. Needless to say, it was very frustrating going to this particular Walgreen’s. There was always a line and the techs had terrible attitudes. (more…)
