Silence is not Golden

September 6, 2009

Okay so I haven’t blogged in like forever but all this political wrangling and lies will no longer let my keys stay still.

First, we have folks showing up to town hall meetings where the president of the United States is with guns visibly being shown. This behavior is just totally unacceptable. I can’t remember ever seeing folks allowed in close proximity to any president with visible guns so why are this behavior acceptable now?

Second, are the lies that are being thrown out there by those on the right and the right wing media about the proposed healthcare plan? Now is the time for the dems to man up and pass this plan with or without the repubs. The democrats need come out fighting hard. They need to dispel all the rumors that and mistruths that are being thrown about. They need to talk about the folks that are plants at these town hall meetings. They need to talk about how the some of repubs won’t ever want healthcare reform because the major healthcare companies have their hands in the pockets of the politicians. They need to talk about how the republicans are against anything the president does because they want to see him fail. I’ll say it again, THEY NEED TO COME OUT FIGHTING!!!!

Lastly, this whole debate about President Obama’s address to school children, this debate is CRAP! He is the president of the United States of America he should be respected. This is not the first time a president has addressed the students, George H. Bush and Ronald Regan, there was not an option to opt out of these speeches. What do the republicans think President Obama is going to say, this behavior is sending a message that the president is not to be respected or trusted. If the president is not be respected then we are heading to a bad place in this country.

Biden to appear with Obama at Springfield, Illinois, rally on Saturday

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) — Thousands of supporters were expected at a Saturday rally in Springfield, Illinois, to see the debut of Sen. Barack Obama and Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as a presidential ticket.

Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, announced his selection of Biden as his running mate with a 3 a.m. text message and a statement on his official Web site.

“Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee,” the text message said.

“Joe and I will appear for the first time as running mates this afternoon in Springfield, Illinois — the same place this campaign began more than 19 months ago,” Obama said in an e-mail sent to supporters Saturday morning.

“I’m excited about hitting the campaign trail with Joe, but the two of us can’t do this alone,” he wrote. “We need your help to keep building this movement for change.”

Before the text messages were distributed, multiple Democratic sources confirmed to CNN early Saturday that Obama wanted the Delaware senator as his vice president. Watch Biden and Obama at 3 p.m. ET on CNN.com Live

R.I.P. Isaac Hayes

Isaac Hayes
Isaac Lee Hayes, Jr. (August 20, 1942 – August 10, 2008) was an American soul and funk singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, arranger, composer, and actor. Hayes was one of the main creative forces behind southern soul music label Stax Records, where he served as both an in-house songwriter and producer with partner David Porter during the mid-1960s. In the late 1960s, Hayes became a recording artist, and recorded successful soul albums such as Hot Buttered Soul (1969) and Black Moses (1971) as the Stax label’s premier artist. (Per wikipedia)

Boycotting No More

July 23, 2008

Well it looks like my boycott is finally over. I’ll say it again my boycott of Texas Southern Athletics, football in particular, is finally over and not a moment too soon.

I guess I should start with the reason the boycott began in the first place, it was due to the incompetence of the football coaching staff as well as the incompetence in the front office with the Athletic Director. Last year the football team finish dead last in our conference with a record of 0 and 11 overall. I believe the year before we had a record of 1 and 10. So I started my boycott not wanting to watch the slaughter.

Now we have a new era at TSU in athletics with new AD, new coach and a new vision for the football team as well as sports in general at the university. The new athletic director appears to have great vision for TSU athletics and proven track record of turning a failing program around with little or no money. We also have new university president who seems to be all about business (I hope this trend lasts). So Black College Football here I come.

What’s done in the dark…

October 11, 2007

We’ve all heard this saying. “What’s done in dark will come to the light” and I am inclined to believe it’s true. I don’t know why some folks, especially the rich and famous, don’t believe in this saying… they are constantly testing it and failing miserably

Case in point, Senator Craig please goes away. No believes you when you say “I am not Gay” at any given opportunity. This protesting of yours bring to mind another age old saying “thou dost protest too much”. You should have resigned and retreated to your home quietly and then only then will those allegations go away.

Next, Mattel Toy Corporation… I wonder how long you have known that China was making inferior products. How long have you all known that there was lead in the paint?

Lastly, Marion Jones, tsk, tsk, tsk, what the hell were you thinking?!! See previous posts and insert your name in the first line. How can taking something to enhance your talents really be a victory? You have not only messed up your reputation but the reputation of your track teammates who where on that Olympic team with you. They records are now sullied by your actions.

One folks will come to realize that there is truth behind these age old sayings.
